Are you up for the 30+ plant challenge?


Why is 30 a magic number? The American Gut Project discovered that people who ate over 30 types of plants each week had a more diverse mix of gut microbes than those who ate less than 10. This diversity is arguably one of the most important aspects of  health and longevity. 

What counts as a plant?

All of your fruits, veggies, wholegrains, beans, legumes, nuts and seeds - you have a lot to work with here!

Tips to get your 30+ Points 

  • Try different colors of the same food. For example, each color pepper earns you one point!
  • Fill up half of your plate with vegetables.
  • Try a mixed bag salad, they often include a few different types of vegetables.
  • Make yourself a trail mix with a few different nuts  and dried fruit. You'll be sure to claim a few points. 
  • Experiment with a new grain such as farro
  • Try substituting beans, tofu or tempeh for meat ​
  • Sprinkle chia seeds or nuts over a salad for an extra crunch ​
